Compassion for Your Addictions Holds the Key to Lasting Change

Compassion for Your Addictions
Examining our addictions can help us to get more in touch with our needs - that which connects us with life.

Feelings and needs are at the heart of Nonviolent Communication (NVC).  Needs are what connect us with life - with our life-force energy.

Speed Mentoring and Why?

Anna-Maria Amato
Check out this thought-provoking post by Anna-Maria Amato about empathy and speed-mentoring.

A couple of times in my life, I have tried this very exciting pastime called speed-mentoring. Yes, I have tried speed dating too and many other speedy exercises, devouring a certain chocolate-very quickly. But believe me, speed mentoring is really great, here’s why:

I have so many aspirations, I get lost in my dreams. I visualise them in order to plan them out, I search for a way to organise myself and ideas to bring them into fruition. Then someone told me there is a theory, with its own Wikipedia page, revolving around a rubber duck. The theory goes, it is better to talk to a rubber duck than leave it mulling in your head. Get it out. Even if it is to a rubber duck. That’s the theory and it works wonders.

But what is even better, however, is playing a tennis rally. Have someone hit the ball back to you so you need to be in position to receive it and prepare to return it. And you do. And then it comes flying back for another go.

I got excited that these mentors all had very different, but very exciting careers and lives and they were open to sharing. Conversation, advice and humour were some of the talk which ensued. It wasn’t women against women with the taint of jealousy. It was supportive. I feel sometimes our nature can resist supporting the competition out of fear, not that they will out do us, or lessen our achievements, but lack of empathy.

Everyone is going through their own struggles and challenges. Some have a diagnosis, some don’t. Mental illnesses are on a spectrum along with emotional states and so many things which feed the perceptions and reactions in our world. We are all on all the spectrums and understanding this can help us relate to others.

One of the greatest lessons I have learnt as an adult is not to assume others are any more, or less, complex than ourselves. We all have a journey behind us and one ahead. We are not racing, but we are in it together.

You Are Never Going to Be Loved - Surviving Domestic Violence

Arlene R. Major
You are never going to be loved.”

No one will ever want you.”

You are used goods.”

If you don’t know how to please a man what good are you?”

I spent most of my life believing that all I had to do was keep others happy in order to be happy myself.

However, these statements only scratch the surface of what it is like to be in a domestic violence situation.

I stood toe to toe with my abuser and said "swing".  I was tired and wanted out.  But it did not end there, because we would cross paths again and he would attempt to lure me back.  It was not until years later, my husband (then boyfriend - NOT my abuser) told me this:  "I love you, but you have got to decide if you want to remain a victim or you want victory over this".  I made a decision:  a decision to forgive those who hurt me and how I hurt myself. I journeyed through regaining the love I needed to have for myself in order for my life to move forward, and I have never looked back.

I just knew that after going through verbal, physical and mental abuse and surviving it, telling my story and sharing the hurt, the pain, the struggle and going through the rebuild that this was something that needed to be shared with others.

While many are beginning to share their stories of survival, perseverance, triumph and prevention through my radio show, blogs and annual conference, there are still many stories that go unheard, many voices lost in the darkness.

Everybody wants change and I’m still screaming, "Let us be the change we want to see!" This year is the fifth annual conference and I get amazed every time I put the words "50 Shades of Blue Baltimore" down because this is not just another yearly conference of sharing and caring, but an ongoing movement of enlightenment and power!  Being able to encourage men and women who have been abused and offer access to helpful and bountiful resource and see the community come out to support their own is what makes this something that I strive to do every year.

We are aiming this year to provide more abused men with preventative solutions, encourage our abused youth, young adults, men and women with hope for a brighter future all while showing them how to break the chains of an abusive history. We continue to ask for community support and donations to be able to provide vendors, music, food and fun! Your support is Key to helping us shed more light on a growing problem.

We can no longer be silent while others lose their family and friends to senseless violence. We have a right to be heard and a right to stand and say NO MORE!

For the Lovers - by Carla Cherry

Carla Cherry
Today, I am privileged to share this beautiful and powerful poem by Carla Cherry.

For the Lovers

As usual, journalists do what Big Business won’t.
Chirography in soil: I am only 15.
Since two-thirds of the world’s cocoa
is produced by the hands of two million West African children,
and after twenty years the corporations can’t keep the pledge to eradicate child labor,
chocolates should come wrapped in tattered rags.
Those of us who eat it should be compelled to drink water
that looks like milk
out of a dirty bucket.
All chocolate should be white like the cocoa beans it comes from.
It doesn’t deserve the beauty of brown.
Chocolates should taste like
the sour salt of sweat,
the tears of boys that miss their mothers, fathers, villages, and home-cooked meals,
the dirt embedded underneath their fingernails and in their second-hand clothes,
the blood that oozes when they cut themselves.
Hands that should be holding pencils and books
clench knives to cut open cocoa pods,
swing machetes against tall grasses to clear the land.
They fall asleep to the rhythm of back spasms.
For Mars
Nestle
Hershey
Godiva
to make suffering sweet,
in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Brazil, and Belize,
children join their parents in the fields,
blistered hand in blistered hand,
risking dehydration, heat stress, chronic kidney disease.
How many more will wave,
yell Mwen Byen as they leave Haiti
for 12-hour days in the bayetes of the Dominican Republic.
No electricity,
running water,
indoor toilets.
The bending and rising at the waist,
the swish and clang of machete against cane,
from the wax, to the wane of the sun.
Safe from the loss of lus soli.
Mwen Byen.

Allowing Something to Flourish – Supporting Nonviolent Social Action!

Extinction Rebellion Demo in London
In this post, NVC Certified Trainer Ceri Buckmaster explores her involvement in applying Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to social movements, and particularly to Extinction Rebellion.

Extinction Rebellion were unique in that they approached NVC with a request for training and support in nonviolence and de-escalation.  Ceri talks about her own experience of involvement in organising and leading these trainings, sharing NVC skills with several hundred people.

Go here to read this post by Ceri Buckmaster on using NVC with Extinction Rebellion.  Many thanks to Ceri and to NVC-UK.

Ceri Buckmaster runs workshops and supports people and organisations in conflict through mediation and setting up systems to deal with conflict long term.

Her sharing of NVC rests on the 4 pillars of:
  • Building a culture of Consent,
  • Raising awareness of power and privilege,
  • Finding ways of embracing and transforming conflict and,
  • Holding space for grief and mourning.
She also supports people to create more robust relationships based on transparency, openness, and mutual care. All of her work promotes self-care, care for the other, and care for ‘us’ and our environment.

Law of Attraction Technique That WORKS FASTER Than Scripting

I have been using the Law of Attraction to manifest things for many years, and I am learning a lot more about the Law of Attraction now.  For more about how you can manifest, download my FREE (for now) ebook, Secrets of Manifestation

I have really been enjoying the videos from this sista.  When she talks about scripting, she really mean affirmations.  Lots of people are talking about "scripting", which is another term for affirmations.  Whether you are writing them or speaking them, they are affirmations.

I am talking about deliberate manifestation, also known as conscious creation.

Bottom line, you can have what you want.
And you can use words to manifest what you want.

You can use the Law of Attraction (LOA) to make profound changes in your life.  For more about this, download my FREE (for now) ebook, Secrets of Manifestation.  It is still free at this moment, but I will start charging for it soon.  After you read it, contact me for a free consultation.  My contact details are in the book.

I am very passionate about manifestation, and I am posting loads of blogs about it.  To read some of them, go here to read Manifesting Accurately:  Scripting

Manifesting Accurately: Scripting

I love this work.  I am very passionate about manifesting, and helping others to manifest.  Manifesting basically means having what you want.  And you can.  Bottom line:  you can have what you want.

This blog post lists some of my other posts about manifestation.  See below for more.

Joseph Alai posts lots of great information about manifestation.  Check out this video.  I like his work, because he talks about how to manifest systematically.

He's talking about manifesting through scripting, i.e. using affirmations.  Visualization, which he calls "imagining", can add more power to your affirmations, and I can help you to imagine, or visualize, more clearly and more effectively.

I am brilliant at manifesting, and I am learning a lot from these videos.  For more information, check out the blog posts listed below, and download my ebook, Secrets of Manifestation.  After you read it, you can contact me for a free consultation - my contact details are in the book.  I WILL HELP YOU - that's why I am posting these blog posts - in order to help you.  I am passionate about helping you.

You can manifest money, relationships, career success - whatever you want.

Plus go here to read my article, "Guided Visualization:  Your Key to Power".

I am posting loads more blogs about manifestation, i.e. how to attract what we want.  Some of my recent blogs include:

Not Seeing Results with Your Manifesting? You Can Set the INTENTION to See Results

I am passionate about manifestation - finding new ways to manifest what I want, and helping people like you to do so, too.  That's why I have been blogging a lot about manifestation lately.  I am already brilliant at manifesting, and I'm eagerly learning more manifestation methods.

I am talking about deliberate manifestation, what is sometimes called conscious creation.

Bottom line:  you can have what you want.

Amy Westmore is another great manifestor I have discovered recently.

As she says, it's normal to experience resistance.  All of us have some resistance.

Check this out - you can use the power of intention in order to get the results you want.  You can use intention to see results quickly and easily - even if you don't know how.
