Geniuses of Transformation: Wisdom from Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman has always been an inspiration for me since I was a young child. Having escaped from slavery, she risked her life over and over again to help emancipate others. They called her Moses and sang “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” whenever she arrived intent on helping more to escape.

Tubman returned to the South 19 times to help others escape from the plantation.

Two of my favourite inspiring quotes from Harriet Tubman are:
  • Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.
  • Don’t ever stop. Keep going. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.

Plus go here for my short film, Harriet, which depicts an imaginary meeting between Harriet Jacobs and Harriet Tubman.

Geniuses of Transformation: Wisdom from Nelson Mandela

Today, I am celebrating the great activist and first elected President of South Africa Nelson Mandela.

Nelson Mandela spent over 27 years in prison as a result of his opposition to apartheid in South Africa.  The apartheid regime hoped the world would forget Mandela, but his wife, Winnie Mandela, along with other anti-apartheid activists, kept his memory alive as a global symbol of anti-apartheid.

At a time when white extremists were threatening to blow up South Africa rather than put an end to apartheid, Mandela managed to win their respect while maintaining his commitment to democracy and equality.  He even won the respect of his jailers.

And although it looked as though apartheid would only end in armed struggle, with blood flowing in the streets, Mandela managed a smooth and bloodless transition to democracy, inspiring people all over the world.

Here are two of my favourite quotes from Nelson Mandela:
  • It always seems impossible until it's done.
  • No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

Through using Ancestral Lineage Clearing, Ariann has helped several of her relatives to reduce the effects of heart problems and, therefore, reduce their use of meds. None of her other family members have developed heart problems.

Brains Just Wanna Have Fun

Cristina Smith, Yoga for the Brain
My mother has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia, and my grandmother suffered from both.  My father, on the other hand, had all of his marbles till the day he died.  He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, pretty much on a daily basis, including the hardest ones - the cryptic crosswords.

According to this article,

Interventions such as "brain training" computer games have been shown to improve cognition over a short period, but research has not yet demonstrated whether this can help prevent dementia.

Many other factors, including a healthy lifestyle, may help to prevent Alzheimer's and dementia, and to support those who have these conditions.

This article gives more information, including six points for preventing Alzheimer's.  Point Four is mental stimulation, which can include playing challenging strategy games such as chess, or doing crosswords or Sudoku puzzles.

Cristina Smith has created a series of ebooks called Yoga for the Brain, which help to exercise the brain and keep it in shape.  Cristina makes no clinical claims for her Sudoku puzzles, but I figure, anyting that exercises the brain and helps it to stay healthy and fit has got to be a good thing.

If you hate Sudoku puzzles, or if you are a fan of them, go here for my interview with Cristina.

For more about Cristina's work and the other Geniuses of Transformation, go here to download Treasures of the Geniuses of Transformation.

I also want to mention the fact that, when we do Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT), we routinely clear people of Alzheimer's and dementia.  But prevention is better than cure.

Geniuses of Transformation: Wisdom from Jack Canfield

Jack Canfield
Geniuses of Transformation - Have an AMAZING year in 2020!

Jack Canfield is the co-editor of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, and author and co-author of a number of books, including How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be: The 25 Principles of Success and Living an Abundant Life: Inspirational Stories from Entrepreneurs Around the World.

See below for the links.

It's difficult to choose one inspirational quote from Jack Canfield, as I am inspired by pretty much everything he says.  But here's one I particularly like, which reflects my experience as a cancer survivor.
As you take a few minutes each day to quiet your mind, you will discover a nice benefit: your everyday, "ordinary" life will begin to seem far more extraordinary. Little things that previously went unnoticed will begin to please you. You'll be more easily satisfied, and happier all around. Rather than focusing on what's wrong with your life, you'll find yourself thinking about and more fully enjoying what's right with your life. The world won't change, but your perception of it will. You'll start to notice the little acts of kindness and caring from other people rather than the negativity and anger.
